we are
building the extension
|

All materials
used here are of the same type and size as in the main
building. The only difference is the roof construction.
We use roof trusses to save time. The photos also show our temporary shower and toilet
"building". Soon we will be able to demolish
it, we hope.

The bathroom is now almost
finished. We have a Japanese bath which is short but
deep. The shower can't be seen on this photo.

The
toilet is a composting toilet type "Rotaloo"
and has worked very well since June 2006. The
colder winter months did not create a problem.
Update July
2007: the toilet has continued to work well
for over one year now.

Torsten
enjoys working with coloured glass and lead.
Quite a few pieces of his glass art can now be
found around the house |

The building
work is finished, sort of. There is so much else to do,
but the house is complete. Time to relax and...
...build
another house. |

Tasmanian
weather extremes:
2006 has been a very dry year with large bushfires in
the South of Australia. We are lucky, the smoke of the
fires clouds the evening sky, but we are safe.
Just a few
weeks later the rain doesn't stop and our water tanks
are full again. |

2006 was a
busy year for us in the orchard and the vegie garden as
well. So busy, in fact, that we have dedicated a complete new website to Permaculture
and organic gardening in Tasmania:
