April 2005
We are cladding the walls

April 7th, 2005

we fitted the loft floors. The material used is 19mm Green Tongue particle board. The view through the sidewalls is picturesque. It would be preferable though, if the walls were a bit more weatherproofed!

April 11th, 2005:

a truckload of scaffolding material arrives. We will be really busy now as we have to pay a daily hire of around $60.

April 11th, 2005:

a huge front moves in from the South. Winter is not far away. High time to finish the cladding of the walls!

April 17th, 2005

Silke nails the sisalation to the timber frame. At its highest point the scaffolding reaches  nine metres  above  ground. Nine metres didn't seem this high when we drew up the plans in Townsville!

April 19th, 2005:

Finished! All walls are planked! Our building is weatherproofed.

April 20th, 2005

Silke starts painting the house.

April 25th, 2005

Torsten finishes work on the roof.

April 28th, 2005

Most of the scaffolding has been dismantled.

April 29th, 2005

April was unusually warm and dry. A strong cold front has now moved through and the weather has become stormy and cold. We can see the first snow that has fallen on the high plains of the Hartz Mountains. Hartz Peak is 1255m high.
